Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or your own agent to Convertify and run a Shopify testing program from your assistant.
Convertify MCP server
Convertify exposes its A/B testing platform over the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so an AI assistant can read profit-per-visitor results and create, launch and manage tests on a connected Shopify store. There is no separate REST API to learn: the MCP server is the developer interface.
- Server URL:
https://ai.useconvertify.com/mcp - Transport: stateless Streamable HTTP
- Tools: 80, plus canned prompts for common workflows
- Auth: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and Dynamic Client Registration
- Plans: MCP access is included on Growth and Pro
Quickstart
You need Convertify installed on a Shopify store. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial: install from the Shopify App Store.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http convertify https://ai.useconvertify.com/mcpRun /mcp in Claude Code to finish the sign-in in your browser.
claude.ai, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT and Cursor
Add a custom connector (or MCP server) and paste https://ai.useconvertify.com/mcp. A Convertify sign-in and consent screen opens. Pick the stores the connection may reach, approve the scopes, and the tools appear in your assistant.
Your own agent
Register a client, run the authorization code flow with PKCE, then send MCP JSON-RPC requests with the access token as a bearer token. The full flow is in auth.md.
Authentication
The authorization server is OAuth 2.1. PKCE with S256 is required, public clients need no secret, and a signed-in merchant approves every connection.
- Authorization server metadata:
https://ai.useconvertify.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server - Protected resource metadata:
https://ai.useconvertify.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp - Register:
POST https://ai.useconvertify.com/oauth/register(RFC 7591), or use an https Client ID Metadata Document URL as theclient_id - Authorize:
https://ai.useconvertify.com/oauth/authorize - Token and refresh:
https://ai.useconvertify.com/oauth/token - Revoke:
https://ai.useconvertify.com/oauth/revoke
Access tokens are short-lived and refresh tokens rotate. Merchants review and revoke connections in Convertify under Settings, Connections.
Scopes
Ask for the least you need. convertify:read is the default; write and AI scopes are opt-in at consent. Each tool requires exactly one scope, and a call without it answers 403 insufficient_scope.
convertify:read: View tests, GMPV analytics, behavioral data, campaigns, and store settings.convertify:tests:write: Draft, launch, stop, update, and delete A/B tests and conflict groups.convertify:settings:write: Update recording settings, saved funnels/cohorts, the web pixel, and campaign sync.convertify:ai: Generate AI summaries, briefings, and chat grounded in your data (spends AI credits).
Working with the tools
- Tools are store-scoped. Call
list_storesfirst, then pass an explicitstore_id. - Read tools are safe to call freely.
- Writes follow a draft, validate, launch flow.
launch_testandstop_testare two-step: the first call returns the plan of what changes on the storefront, the second confirms it. - Results lead with GMPV (gross margin per visitor), then conversion rate and revenue.
- Canned prompts cover the usual jobs:
weekly-review,analyze-test,create-test,build-ai-edit,diagnose-trackingandfind-test-ideas.
